While museums like the Victoria and Albert and Tate Modern have their fair share of credit in making London an art hub, street art is just as central to the city’s creative scene. Now, the Global Street Art organization has announced plans to bring the first-ever Mural Festival to the metropolis, which will see over 20 large-scale works get painted across the town.

Local, national and international artists are set to participate in the event, which will include names like Ben Eine, Camille Walala, Seb Lester and Mr. Doodle. Works will show off a range of subjects, such as colorful typography, poetry painted in script-like text, depictions of cultural figures and abstract imagery. In addition to the murals, the two-week long festival will host talks, workshops, film screenings, gallery shows and more.

“Culture and the arts are synonymous with London and it’s the number one reason that visitors come here,” stated Laura Citron, CEO of promotional company London & Partners. “The London Mural Festival is a fantastic innovative addition to our cultural landscape and really puts London in the spotlight as a dynamic and creative city.”

The event will take place from September 1 to September 13, 2020. In the meantime, visit London Mural Festival’s website for more details.
