UNIQLO Unveils Game Wear Collection Inspired by Roger Federer's On-Court Kit
Federer will also be holding a talk at the label’s New York flagship.
UNIQLO is releasing a Game Wear collection inspired by the kits worn by Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori at the 2019 US Open Tennis Championships.
The kits were designed by Christophe Lemaire and his team, who considered the court and the player’s specific needs when making the collection. UNIQLO puts performance first by using materials such as the highly-breathable mesh fabric Dry EX, which aids players to avoid overheating. The collection is broken into two sections — one representing Federer and the other representing Nishikori — and is comprised of a polo shirt, a T-shirt, shorts, a wristband, socks and a cap per player. The collection follows on from the “GOROGER” merch line, which was dropped alongside Federer’s Wimbledon game.
To celebrate the launch of this player-replica collection, UNIQLO will be hosting Roger Federer at its global flagship store at 666 Fifth Avenue, New York. The first 150 customers who spend $75 USD or more and purchase at least one piece of the new collection will secure a spot at an intimate talk with Federer, which takes place on August 20 from 5:30-6:00 PM. For those interested in hearing the talk, you can head to the UNIQLO website where it will be live-streamed.
The full collection will be available from August 20 online and at select stores, while other locations will stock key pieces including the Roger Federer polo shirt, shorts, T-shirt and cap. Pieces range from $7.90 USD to $39.90 USD.
In other news, Raheem Sterling is reportedly signing with Jordan Brand.
