King Combs Drops Back-to-Back "Surf" & "The West" Visuals
A contrasting duo of music videos from the young artist.
King Combs has released a generous share of visuals, dropping “Surf” and “The West” back-to-back.
Taking a more comedic tone, “Surf” opens with a short skit shared between Combs and entertainer Desi Banks, who attempts to convince the rapper to attend a party with him rather than work out. The ploy works eventually, and we’re transported to a mansion pool party joined by City Girls’ Yung Miami, AZChike and Tee Grizzley. Vibrant and fast-paced, the visual is the perfect companion for the upbeat song crafted for a Summer setting.
Meanwhile, “The West” follows a more menacing vibe with its high-pitched synths and cloudy backdrop. Accompanied by Kai Ca$h, the duo marry elements of the East and West coast together, such as a view of Lady Liberty from the beach and the distinctly yellow New York taxi cabs driving through the Californian suburbs. They also pay homage to Combs’ father during the intro, enjoying a quick moment to Diddy bop across the sand. Ending the visual is a verse from 03 Greedo, who is currently serving 20 years in Texas for drug trafficking and possession of a firearm charges. The incarcerated rapper briefly touches on the topic of his sentence, dropping lines such as “I took a deal just to beat that indictment” and “I ain’t really get too far past Texas, droppin’ dope off.”
