The Beatles' Iconic 'Abbey Road' Album Receives 50th-Anniversary Reissue
Featuring never-before-heard demos and outtakes.
It’s been nearly 50 years since The Beatles walked single file down Abbey Road as photographer Iain Macmillan captured one of the most iconic album covers to date. In celebration of the record, Abbey Road is being reissued with unreleased outtakes alongside a bevy of other bonus features.
Abbey Road‘s 50th-anniversary deluxe edition will contain 40 tracks, 23 of which will be never-before-heard session recordings and demos. In addition, the album’s songs have an updated mix, thanks to producer Giles Martin. One standout highlight of this release is a collectible 100-page hardbound book full of unpublished photographs and a detailed backstory behind each track of the LP. A few words from Paul McCartney have also been included for the intro: “The Beatles recording journey had gone through many twists and turns, learning curves and thrilling rides. Here we were – still wondering at the magic of it all.”
The Beatles’ 50th-anniversary edition of ‘Abbey Road’ will be available at major retailers worldwide on September 27. Scroll above for a look at the trailer for the upcoming release.
