Barcelona Honors the Famous La Masia With 2019/20 Away Jersey
Celebrating 40 years of the illustrious youth academy.
After debuting its checkerboard home kit last month, Barcelona has now unveiled its Nike-designed away jersey for the upcoming 2019/20 season. The inspiration for this year’s jersey comes from La Masia, Barcelona’s famous youth academy which first opened 40 years ago. Speaking about La Masia’s importance, Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto described it as “a special place with a unique philosophy.”
In honor of La Masia’s 40th anniversary, Barcelona will wear an away jersey similar to the one worn in 1979. The jersey is primarily bright yellow, complete with a sash in the club’s iconic blue and red colors. Other features of the jersey include a v-neck collar, Catalan flag detailing and alternate trims on each sleeve. The away kit is complete with blue or yellow shorts and yellow socks.
Barcelona’s 2019/20 away jersey is set to release via Nike.com on July 9.
