Audi's R8 LMS GT2 Is Its Most Powerful Customer Racing Car Ever
Powered by a 5.2L V10 engine.
After 11 years in customer racing, Audi has combined the best of its tech (on and off the track) to create the most powerful car yet for its customer racing program: the R8 LMS GT2.
Based on the road-legal R8 Spyder, the LMS GT2 takes speed and power to a whole new level. Using the R8 Spyder chassis, Audi equips the beast of a machine with a naturally-aspirated 5.2L V10 engine coupled with a seven-speed double-clutch S tronic transmission — churning out a whopping 640 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. That brings the race car up to 123 horsepower per litre of displacement — the most powerful ever seen in history of the customer racing program.
Aside from sheer power, the rest of the car is engineered specifically for racing too. Outside, this R8 sees an array of aerodynamic enhancements, along with a roof-mounted air intake to cool down the internals. The suspension system has been redesigned as well, equipped with upgrades like ABS, an ESP systems, and traction control. Unlike its road-legal counterpart, the GT2 is a rear-wheel drive that is almost 350 kg lighter, with increased fuel capacity.
