Danny McBride Says Kanye West Asked Him to Star in His Biopic
‘Ye visited his Charleston home and watched his son play ‘Fortnite.’
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Danny McBride spoke about how Kanye West paid a visit to his home in Charleston, South Carolina.
It all started with a call “out of nowhere” from ‘Ye himself, McBride initially thought the whole thing was some elaborate joke. But as the conversation picked up, ‘Ye revealed he was a fan of the actor and wanted to “hang out.” “I think he thought I lived in Los Angeles and then I was like, ‘No, I live in Charleston’ and he was quiet for a minute [then] he was like, ‘OK, I can go there too.’ It was once again one of those situations where I’m being set up with another dude and I’m getting nervous about, like, what does Kanye like to do? What should I wear when Kanye gets here?”
When Kanye showed, he pitched McBride a movie proposal, “he wanted to do a movie about the story of his life and he wanted me to play him…I thought it was a cool enough idea that I was like, yeah, I would.” If that wasn’t amazing already, the two continued their discussion on a boat and then they watched McBride’s son play Fortnite. Ending his amazing story, the actor said, “so, yeah, you move to Charleston and then a lot of good things start happening.”
