AUGUST 08 Recruits GoldLink for New Remix of "Simple Pleasures"
The songwriter breathes new life into his recent single.
In recent years, multi-talented songwriter and musician AUGUST 08 has earned his music-industry stripes by penning popular records for superstars like Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, G-Eazy and DJ Khaled, proving his prowess as an endlessly-creative hitmaker and writer. Now, following up his 2018 EP Father, AUGUST 08 is building anticipation for his next project as a solo artist by teaming up with GoldLink for a new take on “Simple Pleasures.”
“Collaborating is two minds coming together to make one thing,” GoldLink recently told SSENSE, sharing some insight into how he puts together collaborative efforts like today’s remix of “Simple Pleasures.” “You get the best of what that one person does, and you give the best of what you do, and then you bring it together and make it something that syncs. I never really want to tell anybody what they should and shouldn’t do when they collaborate with me. Like, ‘I reached out to you for a reason, so you do what you do best and I’m just going to try and do what I do best and hopefully it works out.’ That’s why the ‘Crew’ record worked really well.”
