Square Enix Announces 'Final Fantasy VIII' Remaster Release Date (UPDATE)

UPDATE (August 20, 2019): Square Enix took to Twitter to announce new information regarding its Final Fantasy VIII remaster, including its release date. The video game company revealed that the upcoming game will feature “new graphical enhancements and a whole host of options to customize your gameplay experience,” and is set to release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam this September 3.

ORIGINAL STORY (June 27, 2019): At its E3 2019 conference, famed Japanese video game developer, publisher, and distribution company Square Enix announced plans to remaster Final Fantasy VIII.
Commemorating the 20th anniversary of its original release, the visual revamp is just the latest in the recent series of FF revivals. The Final Fantasy VIII remaster is set to release this year on Steam, Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. With the update, the beloved story of Squall Leonhart and his crew will be introduced to a new generation of gamers.
