'Death Stranding' Gamescom 2019 Trailer Showcases New Characters, "Peeing" Dynamics
‘The Game Awards’ host Geoff Keighley is also revealed to be in the game.
Hideo Kojima and Gamescom host Geoff Keighley (who also regularly hosts The Game Awards) introduced brand new footage from the upcoming Death Stranding game, which introduces an assortment of confusing information as well as Keighley’s inclusion in the game as a non-playable character. The first piece of gameplay showcased sees Norman Reedus‘ character pee, which naturally can be controlled using the controller triggers. Not only can the bizarre function be used as a weapon but it can make vegetation, like mushrooms, grow if players continue to pee in the same grassy locations.
We also meet Margaret Qualley as Mama, a “still-mother” who is tethered to an invisible baby on the inexplicable “other side.” Since babies are used as tools in this title, the name description must draw parallels to the actual real-world phenomena. Guillermo Del Toro’s character Deadman also makes it apparent in footage that “babies are just equipment.”
Kojima has not given much information about the title since its announcement, although tons of footage has been shown. The developer has noted Death Stranding is not a stealth game like his Metal Gear Solid series and is an action game that “focuses on the idea of connection.”
Check out the footage above and grab Death Stranding when it finally arrives November 8.
