Overkill Honors Berlin's Techno & Pride Cultures in New Balance 1500 & 1530 Pack
Triple black or pastel rainbow hues?

New Balance has enlisted one of Germany’s most notable retailers, Overkill, for a collaboration on its 1500 and 1530 silhouettes in a pack titled “Berlin – City of Values.” Berlin is known for its culturally diverse atmosphere, and this capsule focuses on two different communities. One colorway is inspired by the city’s world-famous techno scene, while the other celebrates LGBT Pride.
As a result of Berlin’s eclectic atmosphere, New Balance and Overkill have delivered both a triple black 1530 and the pastel-hued, Pride-friendly 1500. Altogether, the pack references Berlin’s multifaceted electro culture which celebrates equality, unity and diversity — three words which have been embroidered into the tongue using tonal colors.
The 1530 is the celebratory model based on the 1500 and this time around sees lightweight materials dressed in triple black and 3M adorn its upper. The shoe pays homage to Berlin’s techno scene its members who are associated with wearing dark, technical outfits. Embroidered “1530”, “NB” and a British flag add further detailing to the sneaker’s smooth perforated leather and nubuck upper.
Overkill’s take on the 1500 is one that celebrates Pride Month. Finished in suede and mesh, the 1500 utilizes grey for its base with blue, pink, green, lavender, yellow, peach and white accents highlighting the sneaker’s details. The 1500 also features reflective 3M tooling on its “N” mid-panel logo. Rounding off the Overkill 1500’s design is a white leather tongue featuring rainbow-colored embroidery and three pairs of laces.
Both pairs feature artistic insoles based on their unique Berlin storylines and a range of interchangeable lace locks. The Overkill x New Balance “Berlin – City of Values” pack releases on the Overkill website and instore on June 22 for €169.95 EUR each (approx. $190 USD). Celebrate the launch later that day with Overkill with an open-air rave at the Else, Berlin.
In other news, Todd Snyder has released the New Balance 997 “LOVE” for Pride month.
