Sole Classics & Vans Come Together for an "Ohio Funk" Collection
Marking the sixth collaboration between the two.
Ohio-based retailer Sole Classics is teaming up with Vans on their sixth collaboration project. This time around, funk and soul inspirations are imagined over a fresh bed of waffle soles.
Reeling through the decades, ’70s and ’80s design cues are incorporated as nods to the great number of musical icons that the southern state has birthed – four colorful footwear pieces are presented. Dubbed “Ohio Funk,” silhouettes include the Vans Sk8-Hi LX “Funk,” Chukka LW “Soul,” Classic Slip-On LX “Peace” and a pair of women’s Classic Slip-On Platform “Love.”
The first sneaker is one highlight in the collection. Comprised of a black leather upper, detachable mocassin tassels hang from the top collar, detailed with red beads at the front. Majority of the shoe comes tonal, with contrasting white foxing that separates the upper from its black midsole. Another standout piece is the Chukka LW “Soul,” covered in purple upper panels: light suede at the toe box and a deeper violet at the collars. Flower motifs are added to the sidewalls in hues of yellow, orange, fuschia and pink. The Classic Slip-On LX “Peace” features shiny silver nylon, etched with tonal stitching and red piping, while the women’s Classic Slip-On Platform “Love” features grided upper and a light blue midsole. As a finishing note, the collection comes with collaborative apparel with 10.DEEP that consist of hats, shirts, pants, socks and a tote bag.
The Sole Classics x Vans “Ohio Funk” collection will see an initial pop-up launch in New York on June 28, followed by a global release on June 29 at Sole Classics’ website ranging from $90 – $155 USD.
