visvim Covers the Art of Collaging in Latest Dissertation
Playing with textures, shapes, and color.
Hiroki Nakamura documents his latest source of inspiration for visvim‘s current stream of releases for Spring/Summer 2019. Taking techniques from the art of collaging, hand-woven fabrics from the Southwestern-Chinese Buyi tribe are combined with consistent cochineal-dyed polka dot material along with kasezome skein-dyed checked slub linen material.
The collage of materials makes its way onto items like the Christo, Roland Jogger, FBT, MECKEL PARKA, and THORSON JKT. On top of the eye-catching patterns, each piece is further enhanced with hand-sewn sashiko stitching and Gara-bou-spun fabric — giving each of the items a special, uneven and bumpy texture.
