J. Cole‘s had quite the busy year thus far having headlined his Dreamville Festival tour back in April, along with preparing for the release of Revenge of the Dreamers III.

Earlier this month he even joined forces with singer-songwriter Ty Dolla $ign‘s third album lead single, “Purple Emoji.” Now today the accompanying visuals have dropped which showcases the duo alongside some footage of loving couples.

Directed by Olivia Rose, the music video for “Purple Emoji” is surprisingly something different than what fans have come to expect from Ty. Highlighting the power of love, the clip showcases the duo alongside footage of various couples in interracial relationships, homosexual relationships and more. Check out the video above.

In a press release, Rose shared:

“Purple Emoji instantly connected with me on an authentic level. it’s so amazing to hear that sort of vulnerability from artists who are talking about their day ones and a love that we can all relate to. I wanted to stay true to the lyrics and create a video that showed real couples, real friends, real siblings and the tiniest of actions of intimacy they share. I think the outcome is a video that can resonate with all people from all walks of life and is representative of the full spectrum of love.”

“Purple Emoji” is the lead single off Ty Dolla $ign’s highly-anticipated third studio album which has yet to be named. Stay tuned for updates on the album’s release date.

In more music-related news, Tyler, The Creator’s IGOR now has eight Billboard Hot 100 singles.
