Denzel Curry Returns with Visual for Brawling New Cut "RICKY"
Referencing “Parents” from his first major mixtape, ‘Nostalgic 64.’
Hard-slinging rapper Denzel Curry has made his much-anticipated solo return with a new single entitled “RICKY” alongside a music video. The new hip-hop brawler features a plethora of pounding sounds, from distinctly West Coast-spliced basslines to 808 accompaniments, scattering synths, and more, plus the new track sees Curry doing what he does best – spitting unrivaled bars. Much of the lyricism recollects Curry’s breakout track “Parents” which was featured on his first major mixtape, Nostalgic 64, with the chorus of the track revisiting a similar theme through lyrics like “your momma ain’t sh*t, your daddy ain’t sh*t/And I been makin’ wave way before Nostalgic.”
The new Twelve’len-directed video sees Curry in a various amount of scenes, from fighting in a street fight, hanging out with his friends, to him just jamming out in cinematographically shot scenes. The latest effort from the artist follows his “Black Balloons” visual as well as his single alongside Charlie Heat entitled “Aloha.”
