After a first look at Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik surfaced recently, Paramount Pictures has now released the full first trailer for its live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The clip gives a proper first look at the furry Sonic, voiced by Ben Schwartz. The new film will also reference the Sonic videogame franchise, with sound effects and golden rings taken from the game.

The trailer focuses on Sonic’s speed, showing speeding past a waiting police car and stretching in his red PUMA sneakers. Eventually, this speed leads to an energy surge that knocks out all power across the Pacific North West region. After this, the government calls in Dr. Robotnik to deal with the problem.

Over the course of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, the character teams up with his newfound friend Tom Wachowski (played by James Marsden) to avoid Dr. Robotnik. At the end of the clip, Dr. Robotnik’s appearance changes, as the character looks closer to the animated original.

Take a look at the first Sonic the Hedgehog trailer above, and expect the movie to arrive in cinemas this November.
