As Khalid prepares for the arrival of his latest studio project, Free Spirit, the singer/songwriter has decided to share a new single today titled, “Don’t Pretend.”
As a gift to fans to tide them over until his new album arrives, the silky, guitar-driven ballad sees Khalid yearning for true love and holding out until he finds it. “Keeping my phone alive/Hoping that you’ll call this time/Thought I heard you ringing,” he croons on the single. “You know, I hear things sometimes/Come alive, come alive/Come alive, come alive/Show me, don’t pretend.” Toronto rapper SAFE also lends his vocal talents to the track.
