Obongjayar Delivers Spellbinding Rhythm on "Frens"
This is his first offering of 2019.

Nigerian-born, London-based artist Obongjayar is back with a new song titled “Frens.” The first offering of 2019, Obongjayar pulls elements from his Nigerian roots and hip-hop to form a fresh song.
Speaking on the song, Obongjayar says, “Frens is a tribute to unconditional friendship – being there for your loved ones and not being afraid to let them know they’re loved. Whether that’s the love for a parent, a sibling, a friend or a partner. Life is too short to keep it to yourself”
Last year, Obongjayar joined Kamasi Washington, Giggs, Sampha and Ibeyi for Everything Is Recorded, the collaborative project from XL Recordings founder Richard Russell. He has also been making regular live appearances at his own regular club night “Sugarcane,” hosted at Peckham’s Rising Sun venue and in collaboration with one of the UK’s most-acclaimed jazz drummers Yussef Dayes.
