London-based designer Nicholas Daley has collaborated with heritage shoemaker Tricker’s for a Spring/Summer 2019 footwear collaboration. The new release sees Daley look into Tricker’s archive to put his spin on the Apron Split Toe shoe, one of the first designs from the British label.

The shoe itself is inspired by military footwear, with a focus on function and practicality. Daley has then reworked the silhouette, taking influence from shoe styles worn in 1970s Jamaica and archive images of his father’s Reggae Klub. This theme runs throughout Daley’s SS19 “Slygo” collection, which is inspired by his parents’ reggae club night in Scotland.

Daley is set to release the suede leather and cotton canvas shoe in two colorways — “Tobacco/Navy” and “Khaki/Chino” — while the double crepe sole will come in either “Natural” or “Red Clay” color palettes. The shoe also features a handsewn vamp and toe seam which is unique to this collaboration.

Nicholas Daley’s take on the Tricker’s Apron Split Toe is available now in Japan at Cathedral and Johnbull Private Labo, and at Canada’s Calculus.
