There’s something special about Briarcliff Entertainment‘s upcoming film El Chicano, and that would be it marks the first superhero movie to feature an all-Hispanic cast.
Already being compared to films like Batman and John Wick, El Chicano is a dark take on the superhero genre, seeing Raúl Castillo playing the part of LAPD Detective Diego Hernandez. Hernandez, who is immersed with the investigation of his twin brother’s suicide and its relation to the local cartel, then decides to take on the persona of vigilante El Chicano, “The Ghetto Grim Reaper,” in order to wage war against the gangs that roam his city.
Directed and co-written by veteran stuntman Ben Hernandez Bray, El Chicano hits theaters on May 3. The film also stars Aimee Garcia, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Kate del Castillo, and George Lopez.
