97cm Adds Textural Twists to the Iconic Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair
For a sculptural chair line called ‘JUXTAPOSITION.’
Following its collaborative art show at Berlin’s BEINGHUNTED, German creative collective 97cm unveils a handmade chair series entitled JUXTAPOSITION. The visually-jarring furniture option borrows structural cues from Charles Eames’ iconic Molded Plastic Side Chair. Putting its own spin, the multifaceted studio revamps the ubiquitous silhouette with a textural dripping pattern on the back sections of the chairs.
“The result is a timeless visual link between the design of an everyday object and a sculpture; the latter cannot become without the former but continues to exist beyond, in its own right,” said 97cm.
The chairs are limited to six pieces of each style per customer and are only made only upon request. Head to 97cm’s website to learn more.
