Street Style Savants Braved the Elements for New York Fashion Week FW19's Final Shows
Heavy layers that blend fashion with function.

New York Fashion Week may be wrapping up, but the street style continues setting new standards for adventurous outfits, with attendees forced to contend with one of the season’s rare snow days on the way to the day’s events. As the tempurature dropped and the sidewalks became slick with salt and slush, hefty outerwear began to appear in droves, though the comfy sneakers remained.
A mélange of trendy and treaded runners appeared throughout the latter portion of the week, with guests wearing both the YEEZY BOOST 700 v2 “Static” and Salomon XT-6, alongside staple Nike silhouettes and tall winter boots. Women suited up in fur and puffers while men reached for fleece and shearling jackets, with neutral tones undercut by statement layers, like warm-toned hoodies and Fendi scarves. Outdoor staples ruled the week, with omnipresent bucket hats and heavy-duty The North Face jackets providing safety from snow, though Sorry to Bother You star Lakeith Stanfield preferred the timeless sensibilities of a well-worn leather double rider jacket.
