Mercedes Unveils Its Performance-Focused AMG GLE 53 SUV

Mercedes-AMG has just announced its newest GLE 53 SUV. Mercedes-Benz has focused on many aspects in refining this SUV, with the main ones being performance, technology, styling and comfort.

In continuing the AMG design language, the GLE 53 sports an aggressive look in the front with a large grille that features 15 vertical chromed strips, and narrow headlamps that guide you to the sharp A-Wing in the front bumper. The sportiness continues all the way back to the horizontal chrome diffuser and wide rear bumper that frames the quad-pipe exhaust. Powering the vehicle is a turbo-charged 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine that produces 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. With a EQ Boost starter-generator, turbo lag is reduced — allowing the SUV to sprint to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds.

For driving comfort, an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9 speed automatic transmission was used for seamless shifting, and when combined with the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL system, the AMG GLE 53 SUV will remain stable no matter how rough the road conditions are. As refined as this vehicle is, it still remains a sports utility vehicle at heart. For instance, through it’s driving modes, it is able to be lowered 15mm in height to reduce aerodynamic drag, or it can be raised 55mm to help offset bumpy roads — heights can be activated while driving.
