UPDATE: Aidan Gallagher, the actor behind Number Five, announced via Twitter that Netflix has yet to renew the series for a second season. However, he reassures fans that the renewal announcement—if or when it comes—will be loud and clear once it’s been confirmed.

ORIGINAL STORY: Netflix is reportedly bringing Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy back for a second season. Penned by the former My Chemical Romance frontman alongside Gabriel Bá, the superhero series follows an adopted group of “gifted” children attempting to uncover the murky details of their father’s death.

According to reports, production for season two will begin in late 2019 in Toronto, Canada. Peter Hoar of Dr. Who, and Netflix’s Daredevil and Iron Fist is slated to direct the first episode. Additionally, he spearheaded the series’ pilot episode and finale of season one. The upcoming season’s plot and additional casting have yet to be confirmed.

With a star-studded cast including Ellen Page, Robert Sheehan and Mary J. Blige, the long-awaited adaptation finally premiered on Netflix earlier this January. The show received critical acclaim and is in the top 0.03% of all TV shows. The Umbrella Academy is also picking up widespread demand, ranging from English markets to Latin America and Europe.

A release date for The Umbrella Academy season two is yet to be announced.

In related Netflix news, The Haunting of Hill House is returning with a new name.
