Doug Aitken Spotlights Illuminated Figures for 'Don't Forget to Breathe' Installation
A site-specific work to debut in LA.

Doug Aitken recently took to the snowy mountains of the Swiss Alps to install his mirror-clad Mirage Gstaad artwork. Now, the American contemporary artist travels to the sunny state of California to debut a new site-specific piece entitled Don’t Forget to Breathe.
Made in collaboration with RYOT, with support from Regen Projects and Galeria Eva Presenhuber, the installation features three modern figures created using cast frosted resin. In addition, programmed LEDs and audio components complete the multi-sensory work.
“The open architecture of this empty retail store surrounds the installation of the three isolated figures. The absence of commercial logos, goods and consumers renders the store haunting and minimal. A memorial to time past,” said RYOT in a statement.
