Organizers Propose Breakdancing as Official Sport in 2024 Paris Olympics
Suggested alongside surfing, climbing, and skateboarding.

After almost 50 years since its creation, breakdancing is a step closer to becoming a recognized Olympic sport. Organizers announced that breakdancing is one of the four sports being proposed for inclusion in the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside surfing, climbing, and skateboarding.
In a recent report, a spokesperson from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) revealed that the breakdancing proposal was in good standing as it pushes their aim to revitalize the Games. ”We are pleased to see that Paris 2024’s proposal for new sports to the Olympic programme is very much in line with the reforms of Olympic Agenda 2020, which is striving to make the Olympic programme gender-balanced, more youth-focused and more urban,” the IOC detailed.
Making its Youth Olympics debut in Buenos Aires last 2018, there are reports of the 2024 Olympics following the program’s head-to-head battle format. The IOC will continue reviewing the proposal and are required to reach a decision by December 2020.
