New 'Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker' Clip Teases Return of Iconic Character
WARNING: major spoilers ahead.
With the highly-anticipated premiere of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker just a week away, Disney and Lucasfilm have shared a new clip that includes a bombshell revelation. Take note that the video contains a major plot point.
The latest teaser sees Kylo Ren walking through some rubble, ready for battle with his lightsaber in hand. Emperor Palpatine begins to speak, welcoming him to the wreckage. Ren proceeds to warily approach the debris as Palpatine continues, “I have been every voice you have ever heard inside your head,” switching from his own voice to Supreme Leader Snoke’s and, finally, to Darth Vader’s.
While the notion of Vader making a physical appearance in The Rise of Skywalker seems highly unlikely, fans are excited to presume that his lines are voiced by James Earl Jones himself. The scene also plays on the idea of Darth Sidious being the mastermind behind Ben Solo’s turn to the dark side as he communicated with Ren through Snoke and Vader’s masks.
