Medicom Toy Unveils Retro-Inspired Blue Impulse BE@RBRICK
A nod to the group’s 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics performance.

With the 2020 Tokyo Olympics approaching, Medicom Toy has offered a new BE@RBRICK that loosely commemorates the world sporting event: a rendition of Blue Impulse’s uniform from 1964, an aerobatic demonstration team for Japan’s Air Self-Defense Force who opened with an aerial performance for the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Starting at the top of the figure, silhouettes of white airplanes are placed at the ears, sitting atop an intricately detailed helmet and wide aviators — below them is an olive mask. The rest of the body is dressed in an orange jumpsuit, accented with a bevy of details like patch logo and zipper motifs. “Blue Impulse” is etched at the collars by a set of badges, while Blue Impulse’s emblem is placed at the upper right chest — “BE@RBRICK” branding is stamped at the left. Other patch logos are placed at the side of the arms, while zipper compartments appear at the waist and at the front of the ankles. As a finishing note, the figure comes with sleek black shoes to offset the bright colors above.
The Medicom Toy BE@RBRICK 1964 Blue Impulse 100% & 400% will be available for pre-order at Medicom Toy’s website on January 5, 12 a.m. EST for $137 USD.
