adidas Originals has released the ZX Torsion in an “Aqua” colorway that nods to an OG ZX 8000 makeup. Fittingly timed as the ZX 8000 is enjoying its 30th anniversary, this lifestyle-geared Torsion sneaker mixes classic style and modern technology in equal measures.
Uppers are dressed almost entirely in refreshing blue hues. Differences in tone provided by a medley of materials that ranges from mesh and suede to synthetics. The midfoot’s Three Stripes graphic is presented in white with black trim, and touches of hi-vis reflective silver appear on both the heel and toebox. A bright neon yellow Torsion lace deubre nods to the ZX 8000’s classic accents, but the wearer is able to swap it out if they wish: these sneakers also come with clear, blue, orange and teal deubre options.
Down below, the midsole is split into two pieces to save weight, add style and play up its Torsion tech. The heel and forefoot are connected by an X-shaped Torsion bar that takes on the same neon hue as the deubre, and BOOST cushioning is visible under both segments as well. Two-tone outsoles finalize the look.
The adidas Originals ZX Torsion “Aqua” is available now at retailers like Hanon for $140 USD.
Recently, original Torsion designer Jacques Chassaing came out of retirement to give the ZX 10000 a clean navy suede “JC” update.
