Italian watchmaker Unimatic has teamed up with British designer Nigel Cabourn for a new U2-NC timepiece that pays homage to the spirit of exploration. Renowned for his modern takes on military garb, Cabourn updates the field watch with his signature vintage army aesthetic.
Inspired by the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition — which aimed to complete the first overland crossing of Antarctica via the South Pole — the watch features a navy blue dial, gold tone trims and a stonewash olive drab Cerakote finish. The limited edition timepiece is water resistant up to 300 meters, emphasizing its sturdy construction and durability. For more details that celebrate the 1955-1958 expedition, the case’s back features a map of Antarctica, while the watch’s straps come in vintage safety orange and navy blue.
Released in a limited edition of 150, the Nigel Cabourn x Unimatic U2-NC is available to purchase now at Nigel Cabourn stores and select retailers for ¥87,000 (approx. $800 USD).
