The Weekend has been laying low for the past year, seemingly gearing up for the release of his fourth studio album. Just yesterday he was spotted filming a new music video in Las Vegas, equally being featured in Mercedes Benz’ new commercial with a brand new track entitled “Blinding Light” — another cut expected to arrive on the project. Earlier tonight Abel took to Beats 1 to continue with his Memento Mori radio show and has now released his first solo single of since last year’s My Dear Melancholy, “Heartless.”
Produced by 808 overlord Metro Boomin and ILLANGELO alongside the Canadian heartthrob, “Heartless” capsulizes the artist’s tumultuous year, exemplifying his ups and down alongside his largely publicized relationships. Moving into harder territory, the song is a brawling club banger, with Abel continuing to exude his melodious vocals.
