Nike D/MS/X Releases Air Max 720 Waves in Monochromatic Colorways
Reconstructing the futuristic silhouette.
Nike has released the latest addition to its D/MS/X series, reconstructing the original mold of the Air Max 720 with a bevy of new parts — the result is the Air Max 720 Waves.
Coming in colorways of black and white, the sneakers have been reconstructed under D/MS/X, a line under Nike that experiments with form. These particular sneakers take inspiration from retro ’80s-style basketball shoes, with cushioned pods, detailed upper top-stitching and classic round laces. At the same time, the silhouette features a mix of new textiles, like an elongated tongue tab that stretches over the laces, thin netting around the upper quarters and padded backstays for optimal ankle support. The forefoot area is decorated with circular top-stitching, while “AIRMAX 720” branding is emblazoned over the frontmost part of the mudguards. All of these details are propped up by what is currently Nike’s tallest Air unit, a full-length stabilization system that also comes with extra comfort.
The Nike Air Max 720 Waves is currently available at nike.com $192 USD in the colorways “Blue Void/Black” and “White/Wolf Gray.”
