The latest offering from BAFTA-winning director Babak Anvari.
With Halloween coming up at the end of the month, streaming giants Netflix and Hulu are gearing up with a bevy of horror thrillers to satisfy film fans around the world.
The latest movie set to make its way over to the aforementioned sites is BAFTA-winning writer/director Babak Anvari’s psychological thriller Wounds starring Armie Hammer, Dakota Johnson and Zazie Beetz.
Based on the novella The Visible Filth by Nathan Ballingrud, Wounds centers upon a New Orleans bartender named Will (portrayed by Armie Hammer) who lives with his girlfriend Carrie (Dakota Johnson). After a brawl takes place at the bar Will works at, he soon discovers a cellphone. Aimed with returning it to its owner, Will takes the phone home and begins to receive ominous messages and disturbing videos. As the days go on, he soon begins to be haunted by nightmares as his life spirals out of control.
Wounds originally made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26 and is set to air on Netflix and Hulu October 18.
