JW Anderson Rejoins UNIQLO for Outdoors-Inspired FW19 Collection
Warm knitwear, padded parkas and climbing pants inspired by British adventure gear.
JW Anderson‘s collaborative UNIQLO line consistently draws inspiration from garments steeped in British heritage, updating the traditional influences with contemporary cuts and detailing. For Fall/Winter 2019, Anderson takes cues from British explorers and outdoors gear, specifically from the town of St. Ives in Cornwall, which makes for a suitable backdrop for the seasonal lookbook.
Classic British patterns, like tartan plaid, appear on modern silhouettes; this lends a gentle historic contrast to reversible fleece jackets and pullover wool shirts, offered in understated red and grey iterations along with bold yellow and blue variants. The insulating textiles are further elevated with UNIQLO’s HEATTECH and AIRISM functionality, lining the easy pants and accompanying leggings to ensure maximum winter protection.
Color-blocked cardigans, quilted zip jackets, snap-button fleece pullovers and convertible parkas are a few of the collection’s multi-purpose layering pieces, with a host of items offered to serve as thematic base layers, like graphic long-sleeved shirts and sleeveless fleece vests. Fair Isle patterns accent several knit items, driving the throwback motif home, with loose-gauge weaves ensuring that the sweaters feel like well-loved classics. Complementing the wearables are patterned socks and a variety of bags, available as totes or convertible helmet bags crafted from water-fighting nylon.
