Haroshi Unveils 'GUZO' Chain Pendant Made from Skateboard Decks
His first one in ten years.
Haroshi is a wizard when it comes to crafting figurative sculptures out of discarded skateboard decks. Following his PANGAIA T-shirt collaboration, the artist now unveils his latest creation: a colorful ’GUZO’ pendant inspired by his signature subjects. Accompanying the pendant is a bespoke wooden case with an original illustration by the artist. The pendant marks the artist’s first one in ten years, as per an Instagram caption.
“In Japan, we have Dosojin (a road ancestor kami) and Ojizo-san (a Buddhist monk). They are everywhere on the street. People take them for granted and overlook their existence. Those objects are very interesting to me. I question myself what an iconic figure is and thought my ideal figure would be a skateboard,” the artist told HYPEBEAST in an exclusive interview regarding his ‘GUZO’ characters.
