Rick Owens' $6,000 SS19 Runway Parka Is Wearable Art
A Brutalist sculpture to-go.

Alongside deconstructed Geobaskets and more collaborative Birkenstocks, one of the key features of Rick Owens‘ “BABEL” Spring/Summer 2019 collection was a series of three-dimensional, wearable tent-like garments given shape with aluminum rods. Crafted from breathable nylon, this iteration of the “Rod Parka” can be worn with or without the tubes, though it does come with extra pieces to customize the shape as the wearer sees fit. An asymmetric hemline further distorts the silhouette, while a drawstring-laden hood offers the wearer a minimal amount of anonymity.
