Following the creation of Mattel Films, and a recently announced “Barbie” feature film starring Margot Robbie, toy company Mattel has once again partnered with Warner Bros. to announce a Hot Wheels live-action movie adaptation.
The hot-selling die-cast cars are currently ranked as the number one selling toy in the world, with more than 500 million units being sold each year. Considering the company’s history with youth and adults alike, it’s only fitting that the company has once again partnered with Warner Bros. to bring its prized toys to the bring screen. In a report published by Variety, Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz shared his enthusiasm for the project:
“Mattel Films has great momentum as it continues to execute on our commitment to bring global audiences new ways to experience the brands they love as we transform Mattel into an IP-driven, high-performing toy company.”
Warner Bros.’ chairman Toby Emmerich also commented:
“Hot Wheels has been inspiring the imagination of kids around the world for over 50 years. We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing the adrenaline, adventure, and excitement of Hot Wheels to the big screen.”
