Gesaffelstein Teases New Collaboration With The Weeknd, "Lost in Fire"
They previously worked together on ‘My Dear Melancholy.’
In recent weeks, The Weeknd has focused on ventures outside of his music, cooking up collaborations with BAPE Japan and PUMA and dropping his final merch collection of 2018. Now, for his first major musical release since last summer’s “Try Me” remix with Quavo, Swae Lee and Trouble, The Weeknd is reconnecting with acclaimed French producer Gesaffelstein for a new collaborative record known as “Lost in Fire.”
Introduced via a brief teaser clip posted to Gesaffelstein’s official YouTube account, “Lost in Fire” appears to be Gesaffelstein’s next single — which will presumably be released in support of Hyperion, the follow-up to his 2013 debut-LP Aleph. Notably, Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd previously worked together on the latter artist’s 2018 EP My Dear Melancholy; Gesaffelstein is credited as a collaborator on “I Was Never There” and “Hurt You.”
“The definition of the love we feel, or what kids and 20- and 18-year-olds are going through … That music is special, and I feel like it’s what people need,” The Weeknd told Time last spring, breaking down why his current sonic style resonates with modern audiences.
