Blancpain Releases its Iconic Fifty Fathoms Watch in Titanium
The workhorse now comes in titanium.
Blancpain‘s trademark watch from 1953, the standard Fifty Fathoms, receives a titanium makeover. As the watchmakers most iconic dive watch, the Fifty Fathoms has gone through many updates throughout its life, resting with its most recent change in 2007 where the date window was positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock.
While attributes like the sapphire bezel insert, rich lume, large tapered-style hands, magnetic resistant 45mm case, and Blancpain Caliber 1315 movement all remain intact, purists will appreciate the titanium update — not only does the satin-brushed titanium case works in harmony with the black accents of the watch, but the reduced weight from the transition metal and resistance to corrosion adds to the functionality of the watch.
Those interested in the watch can find more info over at Blancpain’s website. There is currently no pricing yet on the titanium version, but if it is anything like the titanium update of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe ($10,500 USD stainless steel – $12,000 USD titanium), the titanium version should run a premium of $1,500 USD – $2,000 USD.
