Keanu Reeves is taking a quick intermission before John Wick 3 to once again deal with sentient machines ala The Matrix in the new trailer for Replicas. Replicas sees Reeves as a scientist trying to imprint a human brain to an artificial one. The problem is the artificial brain is strapped to a machine that has an existential crisis once it becomes sentient.

The film is set in a dystopic future that shows advanced technology having more of a grip on the world than it does now. Reeves plays Will Foster, a synthetic biologist who loses his wife and children in a car accident and intends to bring them back with his experiment.

Check out the trailer above and the film in full when it debuts later this year.
