Ana de Armas Seeks Retribution in First Official Trailer for Her 'John Wick' Spin-off 'Ballerina'

Ana de Armas officially enters the John Wick universe with her spin-off Ballerina. Lionsgate has officially dropped the first trailer for the upcoming action thriller which takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4.

The spin-off spotlights de Armas’ character Eve Macarro, a female assassin — a Rusk Roman ballerina — who seeks retribution against a group of hitmen that murdered her family. Her character only made a brief appearance in the third John Wick movie, who was originally played by Unity Phelan. In the trailer, Eve is seen taking on her own quest for vengeance, as she slices through someone’s neck, dousing a flamethrower with a hose and even meeting up with Baba Yaga himself at the end. Baba Yaga’s appearance confirms Keanu Reeves in the film. The film’s writer Shay Hatten told Collider that Reeves Wick character is “a real character, and not just kind of a one-piece cameo.” Other actors returning include Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston and the late Lance Reddick. Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Norman Reedus have also been added to the cast.

The film arrives shortly after the fourth John Wick film was released. Len Wiseman directs Ballerina and sees Kaley Smalley Romo executive produces, alongside producers Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski, who also led the other four films in the franchise. Watch the trailer above.
