CELINE's New Bag Debuted by Angelina Jolie & Lady Gaga
Hedi Slimane’s first bag design for the house also stars in a new campaign.

Lady Gaga was the first to show off Hedi Slimane’s new bag for the now-logoless CELINE, so it’s only fitting that she returns for teaser imagery that debuts alongside the brand’s first campaign alongside Angelina Jolie. The celebrities showcase the new handbag, dubbed the “16,” in a small variety of paparazzi-like shots, which accompany the black-and-white campaign imagery seen below. Deriving its name from address of The Hôtel Colbert, where CELINE’s atelier is located, the 16 was reportedly designed by Slimane on his first day at the label and, like the controversial logo change, its design draws influence from CELINE’s history. CELINE bags from the 1960s informed the 16’s cropped flap and belted detailing, and the bag will made available in what the brand describes as “the most beautiful exotic leathers.”
Take a look at the imagery of Gaga and Jolie above and peep the more conventional campaign photos below. The bag will hit stores in three different sizes in November 2018, while Slimane’s debut show for the house will go down on September 28.
