Hear Jhené Aiko's Emotional New Song, "New Balance"

In the wake of her divorce from Dot Da Genius after 11 months of marriage, Jhené Aiko has taken to SoundCloud to share a brand new track that seems to capture her recent emotional struggles. “New Balance” is a piano-led love song that fans are already speculating is about her alleged relationship with Twenty88 collaborator Big Sean and the subsequent fall out with her ex-husband. Aiko longingly croons:
“It hit me like a tidal wave / Knew that I was in love with you right away / Turned all my days into brighter days / Even when people say what we do is not ok / Man, f*ck what other people say.”
Jhené hasn’t explained the meaning behind “New Balance” explicitly, but there has been some communication on Twitter between her, a fan and Big Sean that seems to show some sort of connection within the song. See the tweets and stream “New Balance” below.
