adidas has announced its sales performance for the second quarter of 2018, with strong results driven by the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Sales over the period totalled €5.26 billion (approx. $6 billion USD), while the gross margin climbed by 2.2 percentage points up to 52.3%.

As well as this, organic revenue growth hit 10% — above the predicted 8% — with particularly strong performances in the sport performance activity, training, running and football categories. adidas also announced its full-year outlook, with sales expected to climb by around 10% on a currency neutral basis. adidas chief executive officer Kasper Rorsted added that the company “delivered another strong quarter on the back of a successful World Cup activation.”
