Inside Rick Owens's Fetishistic Birkenstock Zine
Paul Kooiker photographed a lot of greased feet.
During the launch party held in April for Rick Owens‘s Birkenstock collaboration, photographer Paul Kooiker was on hand to shoot select guests in an intimate studio setting — from the waist down. Having had their feet recently massaged with Birkenstock‘s new moisturizing lotion, guests were invited to pose against a weathered paper backdrop so Kooiker could capture them in his signature monochrome style. What results is a lot of jarring, stark imagery of feet and sandals, to say the least, along with a shot of Owens’s wife, Michèle Lamy.
This limited-edition zine will be given with any Rick Owens x Birkenstock purchase at select Rick Owens stores. Elsewhere, the Paris-based designer revealed more collaborative Birkenstock styles for Fall/Winter 2018.
