Reebok Teams up With Lust Mexico on a Sea Salamander-Inspired DMX Fusion
The sportswear brand’s first Latin American collab.
Although around for 60 years now, Reebok recently added on to its laundry list of feats, taking its expertise overseas for its first-ever Latin American collaboration. Side-by-side with noted sneaker boutique, Lust Mexico, the duo went to work on the Reebok DMX Fusion, utilizing the tonal palette of the Axolotl — a rare Mexican sea salamander said to have healing powers by locals.
The “fluid and organic” uppers give way to a tightly-knitted textile composition with a gradient of orange/pink hues that embody the lizard-like amphibian, while a pale shade of blue rests up top by the collar, symbolizing the Axolotl’s underwater habitat. A mixture of orange and blue comprise the shapely sole unit, while the distinct lacing system — made to mimic the gills of the Axolotl — and decorative black divider lines add artistic depth. Lastly, the lower translucent material simulates the creature’s living habitats.
The collaborative Reebok DMX Fusion will make its debut on July 13 at Lust Mexico.
