UPDATE: Following a trial over the course of the past six weeks or so, Instagram has officially launched its “All Caught Up” feature.

Earlier this month, Instagram announced a new insights feature that will let you know how much you are using the platform. Now, the image-sharing app is potentially rolling out another new function that will let you know when you have are caught up with photos shared.

Some users have seen a mid-feed notice reading “You’re All Caught Up – You’ve seen all new posts from the past 48 hours,” which goes some way to correcting one of the issues that came up after Instagram moved away from a chronological feed. Instagram has confirmed that the new feature is being trialed, but have given no further updates on how it works or if it will be rolled out.

As well as potentially being a response to criticism of its algorithmically-organized feed, the new function could also be part of Mark Zuckerberg’s “time well spent” initiative. The new focus from Facebook — which owns Instagram — is intended to encourage users to increase how much meaningful time they spend on the platform.

This is the latest new function from Instagram, with an updated Stories feature recently announced.
