'24' Set to Return With Prequel Series Focused on Jack Bauer
The series creators return as well.
Following the cancellation of its spin-off, Legacy last year, 24 is set to return on Fox alongside the series’ original protagonist Jack Bauer. The show will be a prequel to the original title that initially ran for eight seasons from 2001 to 2010. To those unfamiliar, the original run focused on counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer as he dealt with threats in each episode — the story, as the title suggests, unfolds within 24 hours.
Series creators Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran will helm the new series, which is still in early development. Although the show will tell Bauer’s origin story, it’s unknown whether actor Kiefer Sutherland will return to portray the character due to their differences in ages. Last November, it was announced that another 24 spin-off featuring a female protagonist was in the works.
