The second week of June was a big music week for albums with notable releases from Lorde, Young Thug, 2 Chainz and SZA, just to name a few. In addition, we saw the return of several chillwave sound purveyors in Toro Y Moi, Nosaj Thing and Washed Out. Not to mention, OVO Sound announced their newest signee, Plaza, who just happened to debut his new Shadows EP on OVO Sound Radio Episode 45 alongside new material from label mates Majid Jordan and PARTYNEXTDOOR. Check out all of our picks for the week below.

It’s been well over a year since we heard any new material from Majid Jordan. With their debut album releasing back in February of 2016, it’s safe to say they’re due for a new project. Earlier this week, we saw signs of what may be a new single from presumably a bigger project in the works. Linking up with fellow OVO label mate PARTYNEXTDOOR, the record has all the makings of an R&B hit and will certainly be in playlist rotations all summer long.

With plans to release a new studio project this year, the chillwave champ has been slowly rolling out potent new singles over the past few months. His latest, “Girl Like You,” takes on a soothing-summery, lo-fi approach that showcases a very different musical direction this time around. Check it below while Boo Boo is set to arrive on July 7.

Following months of teaser clips and previews, Young Thug‘s highly anticipated album Beautiful Thugger Girls finally arrived and, as expected, does not disappoint one bit. The 14-track project was inspired by Thug’s fiancée, Jerrika Karlae, and features appearances by Future, Snoop Dogg, Lil Durk, Jacquees and Millie Go Lightly. While Thugger originally claimed that the LP was executive produced by Drake, the 6 God’s name isn’t included on the list. Listen to the album via Spotify below.

Following the single releases over the past three months, Lorde’s highly-anticipated sophomore album, Melodrama, finally arrived this week. The album, which was co-produced and co-written with Jack Antonoff, dives into a more grown-up sound, dealing with heartbreak, falling in love, vulnerability, and growing up in your twenties. Check it out below.

DJ Khaled dropped the video for his new single “Wild Thoughts” with guest appearances from Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. The track was teased earlier in the week, with a post on Instagram that featured his son Asahd, who unsurprisingly is also the track’s executive producer — that boy got talent. Ernest Greene, otherwise known as Washed Out, made his long-awaited return this week with a new single and new album announcement, Mister Mellow. The track, “Hard to Say Goodbye,” is Greene’s latest summery cut that paves way for his first project in nearly four years following 2013′s acclaimed Paracosm album. Check it out below, while his Mister Mellow is slated for release on June 30 via Stones Throw.
