Wayne Rooney Officially Signs with D.C. United
Inking a $13 million USD contract.

After months of speculation, former England captain Wayne Rooney has followed Zlatan and moved to the MLS. While the move to D.C. United isn’t necessarily a surprise, it does indicate the speed of Rooney’s decline. Just two years ago, Rooney was captaining England to the European Championships and still playing regularly for Manchester United.
A year ago, Rooney returned to Everton, his boyhood club, where he played for a year. The attacker becomes the latest European player to see out the last days of his career in the MLS, with the likes of David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Steven Gerrard, in addition to Zlatan, all playing in the league. Rooney has signed a three-and-a-half year contract, worth a reported $13 million USD.
In other football news, adidas had to drop the prices of Germany’s kit after the country’s World Cup elimination.
